Bishop John W. Jasper, Jr.

John W. Jasper, Jr. was born on November 22, 1966 in Houston, Texas to the late Rev. John W. Jasper, Sr. and Mrs. Mammie Jasper.
 

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior during his youth and was baptized at Sunshine Church of God in Christ. It was there where he accepted his call to the gospel ministry in 1991. Rev. Jasper was a faithful member there for more than 20 years. 

During such time he attended Houston Public Schools and received his  high school diploma from Wheatley High School. Later he attended Inner Baptist Theology Center in Houston, Texas where he received a Bachelor of Theology in May 1994.

In 2001, Rev. Jasper was appointed  as the Assistant Pastor of the New Light Baptist Church under the dynamic leadership of the late Pastor Doise A. Easley. He served in this position for three years. On November 2003, Pastor Easley resigned as Senior Pastor and appointed Rev. Jasper as Senior Pastor of the New Light Baptist Church in the presence of the congregation.

In December 2009, Pastor Jasper was appointed Office of Bishop.

​

The anointing that rests on the life of Bishop Jasper has allowed the evangelism, ministry, fellowship and discipleship activities of the New Light Baptist Church family to overflow. Bishop  Jasper is committed to taking God's Word to a hurting and lost generation as he builds people of PURPOSE, POWER and PRAISE.

​

His personal mission is to: Employ his God-given gifts and abilities to effectively communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ in such a way that it is applicable to life and encourages triumphant living.

​

Bishop Jasper is married to the love of his life,  Angela Jasper. He is the proud father of six children: Lacy Robins, Xavier Bloodsaw, Jana Rodgers, Sharlishia Valentine, Javonta Jasper and John Jasper  III. He is the proud grandfather of six grandchildren:

Jayden Robins,  Jermarion Rodgers, Zoey Bloodsaw, Jaycie Robins, Zaria Bloodsaw, Terrence Rodgers Jr and Zeke Bloodsaw.

 

In my leisure time I enjoy outings with my family, riding my motorcycle with my son and brothers, watching television, and spending time with my church family.

I have nothing but FAITH because of all the things God has done in my LIFE.
